Who Am I and Why I’m Doing This?
My name is Branislav Tomasko, though over the years, I’ve been called many things—from “Brus” to “Tony the Russian,” even though I’m neither Tony nor Russian. I was born in Slovakia, in the heart of Europe, and from a young age, I knew the world was waiting for me. At 15, my thirst for adventure was so strong that I climbed out of a seventh-floor window to chase my dreams. And since then, I’ve never stopped pursuing them.
I’ve lived in incredible places, from jungles to the Himalayas, traveling the world while working in tourism and gastronomy. It hasn’t always been easy—I’ve learned from both my successes and my mistakes. I’ve slept in palaces, but also under bridges. What matters most is that I’ve learned from every experience and every person I’ve met along the way, from gurus like Tony Robbins to humble families in the most remote corners of Asia and Latin America.
After years of working on boats and luxury yachts, I decided it was time to do things my way. That’s how my project in Baja California Sur was born—where I found my home. My Hatred for ‘Vacations’ and What I’d Like You to Do Instead
I’ve always found the word “vacation” interesting. In my native language, Slovak, the word we use for it is dovolenka, which literally means “permission.” And for a long time, I wondered: why do I need someone’s permission to rest, explore the world, or simply reconnect with myself?
This concept never sat right with me because I felt that the time to enjoy life and truly live shouldn’t depend on someone else’s approval. Traveling isn’t just about escaping routine—it’s about feeling free, discovering who you truly are, and experiencing the world from a completely new perspective.
So, I decided to shift my mindset. I stopped thinking of “vacations” as something granted by someone else and started living my days as a collection of intentional adventures—experiences that enrich and transform me. And that’s exactly what I want to share with you: the opportunity to change how you travel and maybe even rethink what truly living means.
